Ross Mickelson, MS, Psychology Intern

Ross Mickelson is a doctoral psychology intern at Solutions Behavioral Healthcare Professionals, completing his Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. He earned his Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Mary in 2019. Ross has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient, inpatient, and neuropsychological assessment settings. His clinical intervention interests include depression, anxiety, trauma, emotion regulation, self-harm and suicidal ideation, and neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and Autism.

Ross strives to create a safe, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel understood and supported as they work toward meaningful personal goals. His approach is grounded in person-centered care and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He uses clients’ values and strengths, along with mindfulness and other practical strategies, to help them navigate challenges and make meaningful changes in their lives. He tailors his approach to each client’s individual needs, experiences, and identity.

Ross also has specialized training in psychological and neuropsychological assessment. In his previous work at Great Lakes Neurobehavioral Center, Ross primarily worked with children and adolescents referred for neuropsychological evaluations related to ADHD, Autism, learning disorders, intellectual disabilities, and emotional/behavioral concerns. He also completed a practicum experience with the Neuropsychology Team at the Minneapolis VA, where he worked with adult veterans experiencing memory problems, traumatic brain injury, and mental health concerns. Through these experiences, Ross contributed to diagnostic clarification and the development of practical, individualized recommendations to support treatment, everyday functioning, and quality of life.

Outside of work, Ross enjoys playing guitar, golfing, competing in pinball tournaments, and spending time with friends and family.
