Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
McKayla earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Dakota in December 2021 and her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in February 2026. She is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a passion for providing compassionate, patient-centered mental health care across the lifespan.
After earning her BSN and becoming a licensed registered nurse, McKayla began her career as a medical-surgical nurse at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota. She later transitioned to psychiatric nursing at Prairie St. John's in Fargo. Through this experience, she discovered a passion for mental health care and was inspired to pursue advanced training as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
She specializes in comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and medication management for a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), trauma-related disorders, and other psychiatric concerns. She is committed to helping individuals and families navigate mental health challenges through evidence-based treatment and collaborative care.
While McKayla enjoys working with individuals of all ages, she has a special passion for treating children and adolescents. She values the opportunity to support young people during important developmental years and help them build the tools needed for long-term emotional wellness.
McKayla finds her work most meaningful when she can make a positive impact in someone's life, whether through small victories or significant milestones. She appreciates the diversity of the mental health field and finds it incredibly rewarding to connect individuals with resources, provide support during difficult times, and walk alongside them as they grow and overcome challenges throughout their lives.
Her approach to care is grounded in empathy, compassion, respect, patient-centered care, and hope. McKayla believes in creating a supportive and trusting environment where individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered in their mental health journey. She is licensed in Minnesota and will be able to offer telehealth appointments across our Minnesota sites for clients aged 4 and older.
