Areas of Practice/Specialties
Mr. Bakken has practiced psychology in the Fargo-Moorhead community for the past 11 years. He works with both adults and children using a cognitive-behavioral approach. Areas of special expertise include emotional/behavioral difficulties, anxiety/mood problems, anger management and crisis intervention. Other areas of competence include traumatic brain injury, developmental disabilities, oppositional and conduct problems and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Mr. Bakken takes and active and directive approach to therapy. After an initial assessment, therapy will include prioritizing problems and systematically addressing functional changes. Often therapy includes homework to facilitate positive behavioral changes. He involves key supports for the individual and works closely with other providers including school personnel.
Clinical Training/Certification
Mr. Bakken received both his Bacheolor of Science and his Master of Science degrees from North Dakota State University . He recently attained a Master in Management in Healthcare from the University of Mary . He is certified Neutral in Minnesota for providing mediation services.
