INTENSIVE BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION &
CRISIS SERVICES

     

Initially an assessment is conducted to determine the scope and magnitude of the difficulty and to gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of the problem behavior. Detailed, practical suggestions are offered.

Treatment plans are developed using a skill deficit model and a client-centered philosophy. We work with inter-agency teams, including staff at all levels, to design functional approaches for complex problems.

WHEN TO ACCESS SERVICES

  • If behavior is dangerous or disruptive
  • If caretakers are overwhelmed in dealing with the client's behavior
  • If a placement is in jeopardy
  • If psychotropic medication is being considered or utilized
  • If behavior interferes with efforts to promote independence
  • If a fresh treatment conceptualization is needed
  • If the team is not in agreement as to treatment needs

SERVICES PROVIDED INCLUDE...

  • Comprehensive Behavioral Assessment: A functional analysis is conducted in the context of all environments to determine maintaining variables and how the behavior is functional for the individual. The assessment provides options to the team for potential treatment directions.
  • Treatment Planning: We assist the team in devising program plans to strategically impact negative behavior. Emphasis is on personal responsibility and motivation and in actively teaching social skills.
  • Augmentative Staff Support: Staff are available to provide assistance for implementation of behavior intervention plans, to monitor program effectiveness and to enhance client support.

STAFF TRAINING
Staff training is provided on client-specific program plans using vignettes, role-plays and scripting of specific responses. Training is viewed as an active and ongoing process; and it occurs in conjunction with program monitoring. Inservices are also available on a variety of clinical topics such as therapeutic intervention, client-centered behavior programming, AD/HD, behavioral disorders, developmental disabilities, Asperger Syndrome and motivation strategies.

CRISIS CONSULTATION
24-hour telephone consultation is available to assist in crisis stabilization. Arrangements may be made for on-site consultation by a specialist.

FEES
Payment for Intensive Behavioral Intervention can be obtained from a number of funding sources. At the time of referral these can be determined. Most insurance is accepted and may be utilized for at least a portion of these services. A sliding scale is available for eligible parties.
