SOLUTIONS is committed to helping parents learn to successfully co-parent their child(ren). Co-Parenting therapy involves the teaching of effective co-parenting strategies, designed in the best interest of the child(ren) following separation or divorce. Co-Parenting therapy is different from mediation in that the focus is on learning to resolve conflict independently, thereby reducing or eliminating the need for on-going litigation or mediation.
Appropriate candidates for the work are parents, who, in the best interest of their children, are prepared to.
- Make difficult changes in their own behavior
- Accept they cannot change the other parent's behavior
- "Let go" of the past conflicts with the other parent
- Accept that the situation may not always feel fair
A TEAM APPROACH
Each parent is initially assigned a therapist to assist in this process. Therapists and parents then work together in devising the most effective, least conflictual co-parenting style to enhance the adjustment and overall well-being of the child(ren).
