Dr. Kao provides primary supervision for Interns at the Moorhead Clinic. Dr. Kao is a Licensed Psychologist in Minnesota and began working at Solutions in 2018. She received her BS in psychology from National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan in 1996. She obtained her M.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2003. In 2010 she received her Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Her doctoral internship was completed through the Student Counseling Services at the University of Minnesota.

 

From 2010 to 2018 Dr. Kao was employed as a Counseling Psychologist through Counseling and Disability Services at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. She has extensive experience in providing both short and long-term psychotherapy to clients with a wide range of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD, personality disorders, trauma, family-of-origin issues, and grief/loss problems. She provided clinical training and supervision for master- and doctoral-level counseling interns, as well as provided crisis response services, including after-hours on-call, walk-in/crisis counseling, responding to emergency situations on campus, and providing debriefing to the campus in response to crisis situations. She also conducted outreach programs in areas such as diversity issues, counseling skills, stress management, time management, and procrastination.
